His desire was to make a “fun” sci fi dramedy about two characters. After four years of gathering the budget money (including working as a model maker on Wes Anderson’(🌦)s Grand Budapest Hotel) he was finally able to get the low budget indie sci fi film made. Along with writing and co‐producing the film, Berton edited, directed and served as visual effects supervisor/production designer. The cast and crew were put together in Berlin, Germany where the film was made. Sets were built, miniatures were made by various well known professional model makers in England, America and Germany. Minimal CGI was used in the making of this film as Berton prefers a naturalistic atmosphere and visual texture. Characters are what should bring the film and story to life, and this is reflected in the eclectic casting of Irish, Australian and German actors.
