The father of the past (who has died of Tuberculosis, revealed shockingly), the mother's current liaison, and the son's wife all re-enforce roles of sexual inadequacy with the two main characters (Mother, Shizuko, and son, Shizuo). Time is blended together, and the film ends up being an incredibly interesting melodrama with much of the (Japanese new wave staple) political put on backburner. A subplot involving the son's lack of sexual interest in his wife, and his mother's lack of sexual fulfillment in her lover (husband to be, I'm not sure) adds to the development of the incest tone.麦子什么麦子！这是(📜)别人家的麦子，和你没什么关系！爹，我(🍝)提醒你一句，你想做(zuò )好人的(de )时候想(xiǎ(😬)ng )想你是怎么站起来的！你要是再把自己作瘫了，以后别指望我再管你！张秀娥压抑着怒火说(shuō )道。顾潇潇表情冷淡，态度(dù )称(🤓)不(bú )上好(🛂)，擦肩而过她都没有和他(tā )打声招呼，完全视他为空气。张秀娥(🐂)在自己(🌦)的(🅾)心中冷笑了一番，养她这么大？这话说的还真是足够冠(🧠)冕堂皇的，只是知道怎么一回事儿的人(🍈)，都会明(míng )白，这不过就是一个天大的笑话！又瘪着嘴思考，也不一定啊，我总要(🔠)考虑考虑，万一她们有更(gèng )好的方案呢。
