The first episode finds 17-year-old David in care, illustrating his love of animals and the peace he finds at a nearby wildlife reserve. Following shocking violence, and haunted by visions (recalling the strongly environmental Edge of Darkness) of his father (Paul McGann), David goes on a modern-day odyssey throughout which, like Tom Jones before him, women find his naïve innocent charm irresistible. David though, falls for environmental activist Jenny (Joanne Froggatt) and becomes involved with industrial pollution and the battle to save an ancient woodland. After the excellence of the first three episodes, the finale moves into not entirely convincing science fiction territory, and offers a resolution which raises as many questions as it answers. And even more so from Russia. And what a title. A slasher akin to an electric shock, the straightforward and boldfaced B-film aesthetics of which could well make the big name of this genre, Quention Tarantno himself, green with envy. This is a ‘hammer straight on the head between the eyes’(🛹) brutal bloodbath in which 29-year-old director Kirill Sokolov does not hold back in anything. And quite rightly so, why should he?Larry Williams and Jean Strange happen onto each other after they both spent time behind bars for scamming the public. Larry tries to propose an idea, but Jean is not having any of it, at least right off, but soon enough she's listening to his scheme and showing interest. Larry wants to start up what he calls a "legitimate" business by resurrecting a defunct health and fitness magazine. He garners the financing from their old pal, Dan Healy, and then they recruit two Olympians to unwittingly front the operation, but the magazine's biographies accompanying the cheesecake and beefcake photo spreads under the guise of health and fitness soon leads to a split, forcing more conniving by Larry and friends.
