The only curious situation is that the blind man keeps all his savings in a little black box donated to him by the government. It is through this box that the poor man proves his visual handicap. The situation of accident-prone, caustic-minded young lecturer Jim Dixon having problems with his girlfriend and his professor - he was promptly annexed as an example of 'Angry Young Man' protest - here lacks all sense of satire, not surprisingly given the casting of the wet Carmichael in the central role. Cosy, undemanding, and quite forgettable.
