They meet accidentally in the streets of contemporary St Petersburg, and they set on a journey to the island Belyj in search of a rainbow - or a treasure that is supposedly been buried there since the war. The islanders are a rather unfriendly bunch and soon they start hunting the unwelcome visitors. Only the escaped convict survives the massacre but, shut in the throat, he loses his voice.
